human milk, it is my experience that mothers of post-NICU premies are
sometimes instructed to add powdered formula to breastmilk in small
amounts to raise the caloric intake of the baby. While in NICU they
are give human milk fortifier, but I have never seen a baby sent home
with HMF.<

I hate to tell you this, but just last week I saw baby who was sent
home with instructions to be given one bottle of EBM containing HMF a
day until further notice, in addition to being nursed on cue.
This baby is now 8.5 pounds!
