Dear Friends:

I want to chime in with Jennifer on this topic.

I find newly postpartum women are just as brilliant as they were before they
became pregnant. After the birth, their intelligence and openness becomes
intensely focused on the baby. Their world view narrows so they can focus; as
postpartum skills are learned, their focus opens again gradually until they reach
the place where 'normal' is redefined, and they are functioning in all spheres
of their lives again.

Classically, this is the work of the 4th trimester...the three months that
finish up the childbearing year.

warmly,

Nikki Lee RN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI
