When I took the IBCLC exam in 2002, I was nursing a 4 month old that was
totally, exclusively breastfed - never had a bottle or pacifier even. I
wrote a letter to the IBLCE explaining the situation and asking if I could
be seated next to the door to be called out if I was needed. As I remember,
they said that would be fine, but I would receive no extra time on the exam,
but that the exam time had been doubled to allow for learning disabilities,
so I should be fine.

As it turns out, my husband went with me to the exam site, I nursed the baby
immediately before the test, Hal took the children to a museum or outing and
brought them back during the lunch break. I nursed him then, then again
when I got out. I'd never been away from him before, but he did just fine.
Probably being away from home with lots to look at helped.

BTW, does anyone know when they are going to notify about the MILCC
scholarships for this year?? I'm due to recertify and our financial
situation just seems to get worse - I'm worried!

Hope my experience helps--
