Subject: secondary lactose intolerance

Annelies: It sounds to me as though this baby needs to be treated for
intestinal yeast including the re-establishment of good intestinal flora.
If baby is given appropriate treatment (perhaps oral fluconazole solution
AND Lactobacilli Bifidophilus plus Fructo Oligo Saccharide or FOS), the
lactose intolerance should resolve. In the mean time, the mom can
breastfeed AND give lactase drops. IMNSHO, this is a ridiculous reason to
sacrifice bf. Please don't let them tell you that this baby cannot bf.
I've seen this many times post oral antibiotic tx and it just needs to be
addressed properly. Hurrumph!
