Nikki, this story is really sad. I have been put in the middle of several situations like this and have learned that there is always more than meets the eye. What some moms tell you is either what they believe or what they want you to believe. Because of this, I tend to look at a person's behavior with more weight than what they say. A mother who makes no emotional contact with her children will be harming them as surely as if she is beating them. Research into brain development shows that a child must receive love to make the necessary brain connections/development to be loving later in life.
