As an adjunct to my postpartum doula work I once contracted with a major
breastfeeding supply company to rent pumps, sell bras and all types or
nursing equipment. It never felt good to be selling my clients stuff while
advising on newborn care & breastfeeding. I only lasted about a year and
decided to just refer them to other people in that business, I couldn't stand
the sales aspect. I felt that the client might be thinking she couldn't trust
me to give her honest advice if I was also trying to sell her accessories. I
have never regretting getting out of sales and sticking with service.
