Hi all: I am wondering if anyone has had an experience with domperidone
having an opposite effect, and decreasing milk supply? I have a mother
of a 4 week old, who feels this is happening. Without going into the
long story, i'll just mention that in additon to putting babe to breast
for most feeds, she pumps after most feeds with medela symphony pump, so
at least 7X/24 hours She is also taking fenugreek, 9 caps/day. No hx
of fertility problems, no thyroid issues, no other meds(incl BCP),
lochia scant and brown. Started domperidone 1 week ago, 3 tabs 3X/day,
and has been yielding less with each pumping (and this is not because
babe is taking more at the breast, still takes supps of 30-90ml after
each feed). Could she be having an idiosyncratic (correct term?)
reaction to the domperidone? Am I missing something else? Oh yes, she
alternates between using 24mm flanges and 30mm flanges on the pump,
depending on comfort level, but finds no difference in the yield. TIA,
Doreen Vanderstoep, RN, IBCLC, Ontario, Canada
