My hospital-based colleague shared this incident with me. A breastfeeding
mom was dining at a national chain restaurant and ordered a margarita. She
was refused by the wait staff because they
"have a policy not to serve alcohol to breastfeeding women". Mom did not ask
to see the policy, but Grandma went up to the bar and bought a margarita,
which she then gave her daughter. Has anyone actually seen a restaurant
policy like this (written, I mean)?

My friend and I had fun thinking about other situations that this restaurant
might want to address: maybe written proof from a doctor that a woman of
childbearing age is not in the early months of pregnancy (where she doesn't
show yet) before they sell her a drink; maybe clearance from a doctor that
any man or woman is not on prescription meds incompatible with alcohol
before they drink; or what about a man accompanied by a baby or
children--presumably he's driving them home, will they sell him a drink? How
absurd!!!! Our theory is that the wait person was somehow offended and made
up the policy, but you can bet we'll find out!

Has anyone else run into this?
