I have a question about implementation of the WHO Code.

I have the opportunity to write a monthly column, tentatively called
"Ask the Lactation Consultant," for our local newspaper, which is part
of the Gannett chain. I would not receive any fee for my work.

The newspaper, to my knowledge, has never carried ads for bottles,
formula, baby food etc. However, when our newspaper is delivered,
grocery and chain store fliers are often folded into the paper, and
they sometimes do carry such ads.

I am eager to spread the good word about breastfeeding, especially in
our area where those mothers that do start off nursing usually quit
after a week or two for lack of accurate information. On the other
hand I do not want to break the WHO Code, even inadvertently.

Comments?
