Jennifer, I wonder if you could call this dev. pedi as a colleague. Surely, you'll have need to refer patients to her in the future. You could say, "Hello, this is Dr. Tieman; the friend who makes a bad doctor."

I find the doctor's statement that mother has "outlived her usefulness" to be condescending. But her comment about a friend being a bad doctor is disrespectful to her peers. A woman who thinks she can say what she wants to a patient may find she needs to be more diplomatic when she speaks to a collegue. I'm thinking you are in a perfect position to change her tune and increase her knowledge.

Inappropriate to be getting breastmilk at one year? Hmmmmph!

Also, the ped was very unhappy
about his weight, and told mom that she had "long out-lived her usefulness"
pumping milk for this baby and that it was inappropriate for him to still be
getting breastmilk. She recommended putting the baby on pediasure instead.
