Chester Berlin addressed this at the ILCA conference in 1995
(Scottsdale).  His topic was *Silicone Implants and Bf".  From my
notes....

*Silicon* is a naturally occurring material which comprises 30% of the
earth's crust.  Combined with oxygen, it becomes *silicone*.  Silicone
was thought to be inert, but now "they" are not so sure.

Simethocone drops (Mylecon for example) are in the same chemical form
*If* you have concerns about silicone breast implants, perhaps these
drops and pacifiers and teats and other baby items made for their mouths
(teething rings and other toys) should also be considered of concern.

Silicone which has escaped breast implants forms vacuoles and may extrude
into other silicon compounds--why not as inert as once thought.
He did say that breast implants were no reason to stop bf and that abm
has higher levels of silicone than does breast milk.

Anyone else hear this differently or from other sources?  What a way to
gain another advantage for breastfeeding!  (Materials from which
artificial teats are made  could be of concern!)  Yikes!
