I worked in a WIC clinic for a year, and had a lot of moms call me to come
and weigh their babies. So, I'd weigh them and they'd see their little
darling had gained a couple ounces, and everyone was happy. 9 times out of
ten, though, this was an excuse to come into the clinic and talk with me
about a breastfeeding concern. Some were valid problems, others just needed
reassurance. I did not use the weights as a basis for any of my
consultations, unless baby had been losing weight. I was glad mom wanted to
come in and ask questions, and show off her baby.
