Absolutely no need to wean for this medication. The physician is wrong to
suggest otherwise.  Second of all, there are other medications for
clostridium difficile (but I forgot which and I am not where I can get that
information).  Thirdly, why not wait for the symptoms to disappear if they
are not causing great problems?
