I have a mom who had been treated and treated for yeast, and was no
longer responding.  Was in so much pain, had considered going to the ER
on a Sunday.  I called an anesthesiologist friend who has a pain clinic,
and asked how to treat neuralgias.  He suggested low-dose Paxil, plus
Topamax (anti-seizure med) plus Celebrex.  The limiting factor is side
effects...dry mouth and somnulence.  We decided to go with the Paxil and
Topamax and Aleve. (a billion times cheaper)  This mom had some relief
in the first day.  It has now been about 3 weeks, and she is down to
having about 50% as much pain, but is happy with that...it is livable.
I really think some moms get some residual "phantom"-like pain after
their ducts are presumably inflamed long enough...even when the yeast
=/-bacteria is gone.

If there is any kind of pain clinic near you, I would refer her
there...if her Dr isn't receptive or familiar with using these meds in
this way.
