Gonneke, I agree with you.  It has so much to do with the expectations of
parents and societal values.  I don't know how it is is Germany, but one of
the first questions new parents are asked here is:  "Is your baby sleeping
through the night?"  Having a baby that sleeps through the night equals
being a good parent!
