Just a personal note here.
My husband has always been very supportive of breastfeeding. He has some
really bad allergies. (The only one of 7 kids--he also was the one not brfed
because the doctor told his mother he was allergic to her milk)

With a little urging from me (he's really shy around strangers) he has, on
occasion, spoken at length with some of my client's husbands who strongly
objected to their wives' breastfeeding. He's discussed jealousy, mom's being
too tied and the ever famous "I have nothing to do" complaints. He is always
tender and very accurate (he's learned a lot by osmosis through the years).
He works in a fairly male dominated profession where there is always
discussion about someone's wife being pregnant. He always gets to
breastfeeding support. He tells me men understand so little about the whole
process that they are often very frightened especially if they weren't
breastfed. Dennis claims that men are logical by nature and if they just see
the facts there isn't a problem. I think it has more to do with the fact
that he is a man- -educating other men. They take it better from him than
they do me.

His family used to call him Perry Mason, my family thinks he's more like Mr
Spock on Star Trek. His impeccable logic usually makes avid supporters out of
the men he's talked to.
Marie

Ps. I think I felt the proudest when someone complimented us on the health
and size of our son. Dennis turned around with a huge grin and said "And it's
all breastmilk too!" Gotta love him (have for the last 18 years!)
