I am working with a mom who has a complicated health history with this last
pregnancy (#6). Mom had right sided heart failure (congestive heart
failure), pulmonary hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes (controlled
by insulin) and extreme edema. Baby was delivered at 37 wks weighing in at
9' 10" by C-section on 4/21/08.

We've already discussed the fact that her milk supply would most likely be
delayed by several days due to her condition. She is currently stable but
stressing about the lack of milk supply on day 3. She wants to take
domperidone asap (as it worked for her with her last baby to sustain a
supply for almost 2 yrs) when she gets home which may be in the next couple
days. I strongly advised against it reminding her of our previous
discussions about the delay of her milk coming in anyway, but also because I
was unsure of the safety of its use given her medical condition. She has no
history of low milk supply issues - she just wants her milk in NOW. I told
her I would ask those who would be more 'in the know' and get back to her.

My personal/professional opinion is that it would NOT be in her best
interests to take it - but I need more than that to convince her.

Thank you for any info you can send.
