Several years ago, my 17 year old son answered the phone while I was out.
The new mother insisted on talking to me, even though he tried to tell her I
wasn't home. After several "But I need to talk to her" comments, he finally
said "just nurse your baby and you'll be alright" and hung up. I found out
about it when the husband called later that night to complain that my
"husband" was rude to his wife. Too make a long story short, I was pretty
proud of my son, even though his advice wasn't probably what was correct and
complete at that moment to that mother. I, at least know he understands the
basics of breastfeeding and, cross my fingers, will carry that into
fatherhood.
Of course, my husband has been great supporting breastfeeding over the
years and talks to everyone about breastfeeding, to the extent that he wants
me to call perfect strangers!
I think it is important for our family members to hear good stuff over
and over, because I know, my heart would be broken if my future grandbabies
were not breastfed.
Congratulations to everyone who passed the exam this year!
