Purely personal anecdotal evidence:

We went to Colorado and Wyoming while I was nursing Joseph when he was 16mo
(but he nursed constantly, so as much as a 9mo for sure).  We had no
problem whatsoever.  We live below sea level in Charleston, SC.  That said,
we kept well hydrated and as we were on vacation, Joseph was still nursing
constantly.  HTH
