I can see this opening another hot topic (SAH vs working moms), but I can see
how it affects the course of bf, especially in my geographic area. For many
returning to work soon moms, the committment may be less strong, because
"they are going back to work anyway" and "its too much work tp pump, etc".
For some, it becomes only a means to provide intellectually superior food and
they and their baby don't reap the fringe benefits of the mother-child
relationship. A few do, but they seem to be the exception.
The area I live in is rich in beautiful neighborhoods, with large expensive
homes, and no one is around all day. Both parents work to support large
mortgages and children go to daycare. I see this as a conscious choice.
needless to say, these women do not come to my bf support meetings. I feel
sadness for their babies, as well as for them, because of what they choose to
have instead. Do they feel pressure to maintain these high income lifestyles?
I was fortunate to begin married life in a home purchased on one income and
never aspired for any higher style of living. To be able to love and raise my
family was my highest aspiration, and I agree that it is a snapshot in life.
Demographics do seem to affect bf poulations
