I tried the Playtex Embrace several days ago and could only use it twice as
it was toe-curlingly painful. The mechanism seems a bit different than the
Purely Yours I normally use -- my husband watched very closely and remarked
that my nipples moved differently, as if the pump "grabbed" right behind
them, around the areolae, and tugged that way. I normally use olive oil for
lubrication but didn't try it with this pump. I didn't have the courage to
use it again once I thought of that! My nipples themselves didn't look too
bad afterwards except for some mild bruising on one side but my areolae were
left very red; it resembled pinpoint petechiae. And this was with the
suction at level 1 or 2, trying both single and double-pumping.

One other perhaps more minor issue is that it might be more difficult to use
a hands-free device of some kind when pumping, since the flanges were thick.
They were also heavy, so that if they were attached to the bottles and
there wasn't much milk in them, I was very afraid of barely touching them
and sending them toppling right over. No battery pack either, so less
convenient for travel.
