Hi All,

I search the LN archives as well as the rest of the internet and did not
find what I needed specifically. I have permission to post:

Mom just started her 6 mo old in day care 3 days a week. Mom is BF and baby
eats EBM while mom is at work. Mom came to the center this morning
expecting to find the 2 bottles of EBM she had left yesterday but was
shocked to find the center had tossed all 10 ounces she had left! Their
reason? Breastmilk goes bad in 24 hours. No documentation. This center
does a few things that are very wrong and potentially dangerous, such as
reusing formula that hasn't been finished.mom witnessed this herself - a
daycare worked had a bottle of unfinished formula and told another worker to
put the bottle in the fridge and they use at the next feeding. This center
has their info backwards: Reuse the formula and toss the breastmilk if baby
doesn't finish it, and store formula for more than 48 hours but toss
breastmilk after 24.

What I need is an up to date caregiver info packet that discusses these
issues correctly. Is there anything available? I have been searching for
over 2 hours and have found bits and pieces but would really prefer not to
reinvent the wheel and design one of my own. Mom has asked that I go talk
to the center which I will do if needed. BTW - the center tried to talk
about legal issues with the breastmilk being a bodily fluid but mom stopped
them on that: She happens to be an atty and is well aware of CDC and OCHA
guidelines re: breastmilk. :-)

Thank you for any information!

Warmly

Jaye
