Lateral thinking. The mayor of Newark is not about to see the light, let’s face it. However this made me think:

“Nestle offered ...$100,000.00 and a free 2 year (minimum) program, .... to educate about breastfeeding and nutrition in all 15 of the Family Success Centers. Nestle plans to provide their own bilingual nutritionists. In their curriculum, nutritionists, are told breast is best but they do not receive information on how to manage breastfeeding. Nestle hires these brand new nutrition grads, tells them breast is best "but" and then quickly goes on to elaborate on the "buts"...

Wouldn’t it be interesting if someone in the lactation world decided to make a documentary of the programme for mothers and people could analyse it to show how counter productive is formula company help for breastfeeding promotion? Or if volunteers signed up to monitor the courses, or collate the results of the “success centres”. More brainstorming?

[I am still open-jawed. What about the Code and manufacturers not having access to pregnant and nursing women? It’s like putting paedophiles in charge of school children.]

Best wishes
Jacquie
