I do not think insurance companies should provide pumps.  If you feed
formula, you will spend money.  The insurance company is not expected to
provideformula.  Therefore, if you need to spend money to provide the
breastmilk, that is an individual responsibility.  I do not see the
difference.  If your baby is six months old and healthy, consider  how long
you will be away, how many times you need to pump, if and when solids are
introduced.  It may be possible for you to allow the caregiver to be the one
who gives solids, and you allow unrestricted breastfeedings as much as
possible to reduce the volume of EBM you need to provide. I am not
unsympathetic, I just do not think that all things related to breastfeeding
are medically mandated.
