Re: << Marley asks

< Years ago I read that a breast would be emptied of the bulk of the milk
supply (per feeding) in approximately 12-15 minutes regardless of the age of
the baby. Is this still an accurate statement?> >>

I recently did a lit search for something I am working on, and the quote is
from the draft I'm working on. It isn't for "emptying" time, per se, but was
related to typical length of feeds when breastfeeding is effective. I
couldn't find anything more recent to contradict this "old" ref:

"Duration of a feeding may vary from about 7-30 minutes, but the majority of
breastfeedings take less than 15 minutes (Howie et al., 1981)."

Ref:
Howie PW, Houston MJ, Cook A, Smart L, McArdle T & McNeilly AS (1981). How
long should a breast feed last? Early Human Development, 5(1), 71-77.
