Trisa,

What a thrill it was to hear you have joined LACTNET. I know you
will learn gobs and gobs! I certainly have! In the June issue of JHL
(Journal of Human Lactation) there is an article about nursing students and
their need for better lactation education. There is also a research article
about how nurses' attitudes and behaviors affect breastfeeding. The nurse
is the first one at the bedside to help with breastfeeding those critical
first few minutes/hours/days after breastfeeding. Everything the nurse says
and does has a major inpact on the breastfeeding outcome. IMHO, EVERY
nurse that comes in contact with a lactating mother should have a minimum
certification as a CLE. I am really tired of nurses giving out
misinformation. There is NO EXCUSE! So here's to you Trisa! Welcome
aboard and enjoy LACTNET!
