Hi, All: My day, my week is made! Here in the Chicago area there have
been news and newspaper reports on the world's smallest surving baby (she's
in the Guiness Book of World Records) who is now 15 years old and starting
honors classes in high school this fall. She was born at 26 weeks and
weighed just 9.9 oz. 10 inches long. She now weighs 61 lbs and is 4' 7"
tall - a little height-challenged and has asthma, but no other major
medical issues.
She is a former client of mine - actually, her mother was. One thing I
wish had been stated in the media is that she received at least 6 months of
her mother's EBM. At the time the doctors were amazed that she was not
experiencing any of the typical problems one would expect in a baby that
early and small. Ah, the power of mom's milk. Anyway, I am so proud of her
and her mom, I could just bust.

On that note, I'm off for a much-needed week of R&R and family time.
