I have personal experience with NEC and all the stuff that goes along with it. I just wanted to comment that if it is NEC you can reassure your mom that the baby is so ill that they don't want to eat. My son had 4-5 weeks of IV's without any food. I was so bothered that he wasn't allowed to eat but in hindsight he was so ill that food was the last thing his body needed. She is welcome to PM me anytime if it does in fact turn into NEC. That experience is why I am an IBCLC. By the way, my premature NEC baby won state "undefeated" football championships last year. WOO HOO

Julie
