Dag nab it. I can't "force" a baby to breastfeed. I sure as heck can't
force a MOM to breastfeed. I might be able to tie her hands behind her back
and tie her to the bed and put the baby on her breast, but I don't have the
time, energy, or desire to do this 8 times a day for the next year. So no,
you aren't forcing a mom to breastfeed. That is just about the stupidest
statement I've heard coming from a health professional. Does he "force" his
mothers to take epidurals? To have ultrasounds? To have hospital births?
Does he "Make" them feel guilty if they don't? (I bet he sure tries!) His
insistence on this sounds as though HE feels guilty about something. I'd
love to know how YOU have the power to make anyone feel guilty -- or me
either. I'd like to know how he thinks YOU or anyone else can FORCE this
mother to breastfeed.

Sigh.
