After reading this articulate and accurate story, I had to share an
experience I had last night while grocery shopping. As I was walking out with my cart,
a woman squeezed by me with a small basket filled with large cans of powdered
Similac and got into a van waiting by the door. I had a very full basket,
turned and yelled to the check-out area - "shoplifter - security - help!" and NO
one even acknowledged me.
I tried to get a license number, put my groceries in the car and went back in
to speak to a manager. The checkout girl said "oh we thought it was a joke."
Isn't this sad?
In Illinois, I have seen infant formula behind the checkout counter at the
drugstore and convenience stores but maybe grocery stores need to be more
careful, too. It is VERY expensive.
