A recent issue of Mothering magazine has the story of a woman who burned her
breast as a child (nipple was gone) who breastfeed her 5 children, including
a set of twins.  Yes the ease of feeding both at once is gone, but it is
possible to completely breastfeed twins with one breast (also the older
edition of Bestfeeding has a story of a woman with 1 badly inverted nipple,
when the baby wouldn't latch she was fine with the idea of nursing her baby
on the one breast, since her mother did it with all 7 of her kids -
including 1 set of twins).

As for the other question, cancer risk for the other breast, it should lower
her risk (or delay the onset).  Like the women (can't remember the group
name now) who only nurse on one breast and seem to only get breast cancer in
the unnursed breast.  The important thing is not to ignore any symptoms
because she is nursing and finding someone willing to do a mammogram on a
lactating breast - it is more of a challenge to read, not impossible.

I hope this helps - if you can get a back issue of Mothering for her to read
that should show her the possiblities.
