This week's TIME Magazine cover story is about the amazing development of a
child's brain and sensory abilities during the first three years of life,
and about the dangers of being neglected, including at day care, during
these critical years of brain development. Nary a word about breastfeeding
or breast milk. I think TIME needs to hear from lots of people that
nutrition and nurturing this time period is a very odd thing to overlook in
their otherwise very well done article. I encourage all of you to get the
magazine, read the story, and respond as you see fit. They do have an
e-mail address for letters. They tend to print letters that are short and
sweet and to the point and have quotable lines. If they were to get 1200
letters about this, they'd have to sit up and take notice. Several years
ago, I was the *only* reader who wrote in to complain about their referring
to women's breasts as genitalia.
