RE: Breastfeeding 22 month child, taking minipill, and getting continual
spotting /periods.
Irregular bleeding is quite common on the minipill. One suggestion is to
take two minipills each day (either morning and night or both together),
because sometimes the higher dose of progesterone controls the bleeding.
Another possibility is to take the combined pill (oestrogen and
progesterone) since the child is well over 12 months - it is unlikely to
affect supply at this stage, and the amount the child receives shouldn't be
a problem (remember we're not concerned by pregnant women continuing to
feed, are we?). Otherwise, a barrier method could be used.
