In my personal experience, it can take 5-7 days of the mother's being
completely off dairy products to eliminate colic, if cow's milk allergy
is the cause.  Foods are metabolized at different rates so the reaction
time can differ after a binge.  Playing detective with food eliminations
is very hard and puzzling work as a result!
