Last time I checked, there were NO reported health care worker case of infection caused by spilled EBM of bare skin. You do the common-sense thing and wash it off. 

You may need something definitive, in writing, from the central Home Office of JCAHO. It seems that different reviewers in different parts of the country have their own ideas and they are not limited by the CDC statements, much less HMBANA guidelines.

Then you have the various State Depts of Health and CMS. Often they are in conflict with each other and with JCAHO for how they expect hospitals to function.

One RN washed her personal pump kit in the RN lounge sink and another RN had a fit about it. She didn't like the thought of washing her lunch dishes in the same sink where the other RN washed her pump parts. But the mothers have to wash their pump kits in the common sink in our 4-bed rooms (there is another sink in the bathroom). Who's afraid of contaminating what here?
