Hi All!

I have been lurking here for a few weeks and decided to it was time to
write my introduction. My name is Babette Cohn and I have been a LLL
Leader for almost two years now. I have two daughters (so far), Rebecca
(7/31/91) and Gabrielle (11/1/93), both exclusively breastfed, and Gabi is
still bf. My wonderfully supportive husband Jonathan works for UUNet
Technologies as a Sr. Software Development Engineer, so any Internet
questions can be sent our way. I live in Sterling, VA and lead a LLL group
that averages 10 moms a month. I am also the Area Conference Supervisor
for Virginia.

At our monthly meeting on the 17th I had my first direct experience with an
Ezzo exposed mom. Baby is 10 weeks old and she was desperate for support
due to baby being "colicky". From the way she described his fussiness and
spit up situation, we determined that it was a problem with over supply.
Anyway, she stated that she had read the Ezzo book "Babywise" and was
feeding the baby on a schedule. I discussed the advantages of not
following a schedule for a bf baby, especially with any kind of supply
problem. She left the meeting very appreciative for the information she
received and ready to do what she needed to to correct the problem. The
most difficult thing for me when hearing the Ezzo method mentioned in the
middle of leading a meeting was controlling my response to a professional
level. How have some of you with more experience with this dealt with it?
I didn't want to offend the woman's Christianity, though in a conversation
afterwards I sat with her and discussed it saying that I didn't think their
method sounded very "Christian" (I am not of a Christian faith, though I
didn't tell her that). I find living in the area I do that sometimes it is
difficult to keep religion out of LLL meetings, which I strive to do,
though if it weren't for my co-Leaders and core members there are times I'd
feel surrounded.

Feeling less like a spy,
Babs
