I guess it is possible for any medication, and especially in a high dose, to
interfere with the body's normal function. Dexamethasone is a steroid and so
are the sex hormones, like testosterone, so this could affect lactation
somehow. It is also possible that the exacerbation of the MS (multiple
sclerosis, right?) is what is wreaking havoc with her nerve pathways.
These sort of things can be complicated and I don't think we really know
EXACTLY what is going on. However, I would not expect this to be permanent
and I would proceed to encourage skin to skin and frequent feeding, and
expect supply to come back. Use galactagogues and expressing if necessary.
