Actually, Susan, when I am teaching mothers, I do tell them that the baby
should be *drinking* (lishtot) at the breast, not just sucking (limtzotz).
I got this from Jack as he describes *drinking at the breast*  with the
open-pause-close type of suck; something mothers need to learn to recognize
in order to know their baby is actualy getting milk at the breast, and not
just sucking.
This goes beyond the language issue.  The breastfed baby may be sucking (or
suckling), but also needs to be drinking in order to get milk.
