This is an example of hospital policy producing pathology.  A 10 pounder
born in the hospital is often automatically treated as a baby at risk
for hypoglycemia, mother is tested for diabetes, etc.  In one hospital I
know of, 10 pounders are routinely taken to the nursery for
"observation" of blood sugars.

During home births, mothers who give birth to 10 pounders are given
unrestricted access to baby.  These big ones may nurse more often than
every 2 hours.  Some stay at a breast consistently day 1 - day 3.  If
mother feels no breast tenderness, or nipple pain, she may leave the
baby at the breast as long as baby needs to be there.

You've checked the latch, you've watched the nursing.  Leave them
alone.  It sounds like mom is doing just great!
