After our extensive discussion on engorgement a couple months ago, I was
convinced that cold and not heat should be used for engorgement.
However, a very experienced IBCLC questioned using cold exclusively.
She stated that a cold breast should not be massaged. Since massage
helps milk flow, should the breast be warmed, at least to body
temperature (warm breast bath?) before massaging it just before or
during pumping or breastfeeding?

Please respond privately as well as to the list as I am at least a month
behind reading posts. TIA

Bonnie Jones, RN, ICCE, IBCLC from the sunny S.W. USA
