I have some questions about the noisy breathing of our 2 week old. Hopefully
someone can help answer whether I am on to something that needs investigating
or just being paranoid.

She has made loud wheezy sounds since birth when nursing and when sleeping.
It almost sounds like she is gasping for air yet she doesn't appear
uncomfortable and it doesn't make her come off the breast. She does not turn blue. She is
gaining an ounce a day. Poops and pees are normal and plentiful.

I have fed her in a variety of positions, often upright, thinking it could be
my letdown. She occasionally chokes but that is not common. The sounds
continues in any position.

I guess I am wondering about laryngomalacia or tracheomalacia. could this be
early signs? Is it later that feeding difficulties would develop? She nurses
great but the sounds are curious. How about apnea?

Any ideas? Heather Dana
