Univasc is moexipril. There is no apparent breastfeeding information on this
ACE inhibitor.
As Dr. Newman stated: why don't physicians use drugs that are compatible with
breastfeeding?
Two ACE inhibitors with breastfeeding information are:
Capoten (captopril): No adverse effects observed in breastfeeding infants. AAP
considers captopril to be compatible with breastfeeding
Vasotec (enalapril): Amount ingested by breastfeeding infants appears to be
negligible. AAP considers enalapril to be compatible with breastfeeding.
NOTE: As Dr. Newman has emphasized in past, postings of medications should use
the generic name of the drug or at least the generic name along with the brand
name. This makes communication and information sharing much more easy.
