"...her reproductive endocrinologist stated the
reason for her ectopic was that she was still bf'ing her 15 mo old..."

We can't know for certain exactly how the physician stated it, and the
fact that she even has a reproductive endocrinologist at all suggests
some she may have preexisting hormonal abnormalities, but...

Whether or not bf played a role in this particular situation (and it
would be great if this could be explained), it could NOT be said that bf
was the REASON for the ectopic pg. The REASON is that the egg implanted
in the tube. Everything else in her world falls into factors which had
a mitigating effect and factors which did not. It would be nice to have
an accurate assessment of the various important factors and how they
interacted to create the situation, if such an assessment is even
possible.

Since we know bf gets blamed for everything (one of our local physicians
claims bf causes babies to bleed from the umbilicus), it would be more
believable if that physician could justify the stated causal
relationship in this instance. We know that ectopic pregnancies in
women breastfeeding 15-month-olds are not the rule, and we are justified
in being skeptical until further information is received.
