Marilee,

THis strikes a cord with me. I was pregnant in 1976 when this scare was
in progress. I had a RD, whom worked at the county health department
where i was at the time, tell me not to breastfeed. I had never thought
of doing anything but breastfeed.

so the results of my study of 2 is the following:
I breastfed her for about one year.

I had my milk tested at about 3 months pp, and PPBs were present but at
a low level. My child in now almost 20 and is doing well. My second
child was also breastfed for one year and has no problems that i can
relate to the PPBs. I, who would have a higher exposure to PPbs, just
finished Grad school and am in good health, knock on wood, and maybe I
can attribute my personality pecularites and hate for stats to the PBBS.

I am pretty sure that the people who had the highest exposure to the
PPBs ( on the farms) were followed and there must be info at the state
health deparmtent. Karen Koss, can you help? I think that the local
newpaper may have run an article, probably last year, 20 years later.

I am so glad that I did not listen to the person who warned me not to
breastfeed. It was scarey though, and probably the first of many big
decisions that I had to make in regards to my children.
