Not all exams are given in absolute silence. I work part-time at a
university where one of my sons and my daughter attended. Some exams are
open book, and these are often quite noisy as people shuffle through pages,
put some on the floor and pick up others, etc. Even in the closed-book ones,
there's always some noise: maintenance going on, people walking past, birds
outside the windows. To me, baby noises are no worse than any of these other
sounds.
