So here I am this evening driving along in my car, listening to my favorite
Boston MA radio station (WBZ 1030, newsradio, a huge station with massive
listenership) and I all of a sudden hear a reference to the Maloney Bill.
It is the news-caster Dave LaPierre doing a so-called "amusing story", but
it just got worse and worse. He equated breastfeeding to a "bodily
function" that shouldn't be done in public, and says Maloney "claims" a few
mothers were told not to nurse in public places. He finishes by saying
that "no one is saying women shouldn't breastfeed, but hey, lets use come
common sense here". He is not a shock jock doing this to get a rise, it
was done under the guise of "hey, can you believe THIS story?"

ARRRGGHHH!!!!! The full trascript (it's short) is at
http://www.wbz.com/prd1/now/template.display?p_who=wbz&p_story=9755
If you click there and read it, there is an opportunity to reply to
LaPeirre. I don't think he needs to be attacked, I think he needs to be
educated about the benefits of breastfeeding, how much money the US could
save if more mothers breastfed, and how such social stigma about
breastfeeding effects ability and desire of mothers to breastfeed.

This morning (on the same station) another newscaster covered the Maloney
Bill sounding skeptical, and announced a spokeswoman as being from New York
La "Letch" League ;)
<sigh>.
I am very discouraged here.
