My only other suggestion for the mother experiencing severe engorgement would
be that after the baby has nursed on both sides have the mom pump both breasts
to comfort. Why keep her behind the 8 ball so to speak with continued
fullness/engorgement? Let her start off easier for the next feeding by
emptying the breast. I'd only have her empty the breasts ONE time. The rest
of the times I'd have her pump to comfort. Generally after pumping one time
moms don't need to use the pump again, the baby can handle the rest on their
own.

For starting a breastfeeding support group you might want to consider having
La Leche League hold monthly meetings in the hospital. It gives you less work
and the moms some very good information. Just a thought. Sue
