I recently saw a little guy whose father has a short, tethered tongue. Not a typical tether, and neither is the baby's. I wasn't sure at first whether the baby just needed growth of a short tongue or needed a frenotomy for a very sneaky tongue-tie. But I found an **excellent** resource at http://www.aap.org/advocacy/bf/8-27newsletter.pdf.

It's an article, published by the AAP, by our own Cathy Genna and a couple physicians who really understand baby tongues. The baby I'm working with is probably a type 3 or 4, according to the color pictures and descriptions. While his parents and I puzzle through what to do with him, at least his pediatrician, his parents, and the possible snippers can all see - in advance - that this atypical tongue really could be a tongue-tie that really could be snipped.

Thank you, Cathy!
