Can't say that I have heard of this exact situation, but someone who has
lactated for a fairly long time, and with twins, would be someone I would
not expect to rapidly involute. In other words, she could still express milk
or resume bf for some time after. How was the weaning, was it rapid or very
gradual? How was the course of breastfeeding, I expect she was breastfeeding
fairly fully, and not just what I call token fdg. Well her options would be
to 1. resume breastfeeding (are the twins still wanting to?) Did she wean
because she felt she should at 1 yr or thereabouts? 2. Resume expressing for
the twins. 3. Involute with cold and cabbage. If option 3 and with the
symptoms of lump and tender to touch I would recommend draining that breast
til symptom resolution and gradually involute after that.
