Good Morning,
This is to answer Nikki Lee's question about epidurals. I work in a 40 bed
NICU in Kansas, where babies are flown to us from the entire state due to
lack of high tech hospitals in the rural areas. Many times we don't see the
mom for days in the case of C/S or lack of transportation, finances, etc.
And depending on the age of the infant at gestation, they may be in the
hospital so long, that maternity leave is over. Sorry, I was not more
explicit, I had not posted before, and was just trying to make my point
short. So I'm not trying to lay blame anywhere, I was just offering
suggestions, that work for me, when dealing with a mom who wants to BF, and
a baby who has been given bottles. I have not made any connection as to
looking at epidural rates, with these babies, since many of them are so old,
some are 2-6 months or older before they go home, that it is sort of a mute
point by that time.
Hope this is more clear.
I am taking a Lactation course in which my instructor, Dr. Jan Roirdan,
suggested we subscribe to this list. It is really a wonderful wealth of
resources, opinion, and thought provoking information.
Thanks to the list servers for this service!
